Borough of Stroudsburg Trash Collection
Who is required to participate?
All single-family dwellings, residential duplexes and residential properties with four or less apartments within the Borough are required to participate.
What company is providing refuse pick-up?
GFL Environmental. The Borough requested bids in Summer 2022 and they were determined to be the lowest, responsible bidder.
What is provided as part of the service?
Weekly pick-up of trash and one large bulk item per week.
What day of the week will my trash be picked-up?
Trash service has been scheduled for Tuesdays & Wednesdays. A portion of the downtown North of Main Street is scheduled for Wednesdays; the remainder of the Borough will have trash pick-up on Tuesday. What is the first day of service?
Service begins January 3 & 4, 2023. Please see the GFL Stroudsburg Calendar on this website for the 2023 Annual Schedule.
What will this service cost?
The Municipal Solid Waste Collection Fee is $33/Month, or $396/Year. There will be small discounts for quarterly and annual payments. Discounts and Fees will be set at the December 20 th Council Meeting.
How will I be billed for this service?
Your first bill will arrive through the mail in early February. There will be options to pay quarterly, monthly, or for the entire year. Bills can be paid online, by phone or through the mail, and there will be an option for bills to be delivered electronically by email.
When will the mobile refuse carts be delivered?
They will be delivered the last week in December, December 26 th – 30 th .
What if I have trash for pick-up that does not fit in my mobile refuse cart?
Our Ordinance requires that all household refuse be in your mobile refuse cart. If you have more trash than can fit in your mobile refuse cart, 33 Gallon trash bags will be for sale at the Borough Office for $5.00/Bag. Refuse that is outside the mobile cart and not in approved bags will not be picked-up and you will be cited.
Does this affect Recycling in the Borough?
In a word, no! Residential recycling will continue to be picked-up by Twin Boroughs Recycling. Recycling is bi-weekly and according to a schedule distributed to all residents and posted on this website. A copy is also being mailed to all residences in the Borough.
What if I want to change the size of my mobile refuse cart?
Later in 2023, once service has been established, we will give residents the opportunity to change the size of their cart. Look for more information in summer 2023.
What if I am a senior on fixed income and can’t afford this service?
Stroudsburg Borough has a program to assist Seniors that may have trouble paying their trash bills. Applications are available online on the this website and at the Borough Building, 700 Sarah Street. Initial applications are due January 20, 2023.
What is considered a large bulk item?
A large bulk item is one piece, or section, of furniture, or one appliance that will not fit into a mobile refuse cart or an approved bag. Any appliance containing freon must have freon removed and an appropriate tag affixed. Large bulk items cannot include auto parts, lead acid batteries, televisions, monitors, computer equipment, recyclables, or containers with solid waste inside.
What if I have more than one bulk item?
Additional bulk items will require a tag available for purchase at the Borough Building.
When can I put my trash curbside for pick-up?
Mobile refuse carts may be placed curbside after 5:00 pm the day prior to pick-up. They must be removed by 9:00 pm the day of collection.
