New “Smart” Meters are here!
Now accepting credit card, mPay app, or coin!
It used to be that everyone carried some change in their pocket, or purse, and paying for a parking meter was as easy as fishing out a coin and slipping it in the slot. Those days are long gone. Many of us never carry cash - or even change - and debit or credit cards are the first payment choice for the majority.
In an effort to better serve residents and visitors - and to address complaints from business owners - the Borough is beginning the process of replacing our old, coins-only parking meters with new meters that not only take quarters but debit and credit cards as well! In 2025, Stroudsburg budgeted $50,000 for the replacement of
parking meters, and on Wednesday, July 23rd, without fanfare, the first of the new parking “smart” meters was installed on Main Street.
Not only do our “smart” meters take quarters and offer the option of paying by debit and credit card, you can also continue using mPay, the Borough’s Parking App, at all metered parking spaces in Stroudsburg. For your convenience, you now have three different options on how to pay for parking!
In 2025, smart meters will be installed on the 600 and 700 blocks of Main Street as well as on North 7th Street and Courthouse Square. Additional meters will be installed in coming years, as the replacement of all parking meters in Stroudsburg is part of the Borough’s Capital Improvements Plan.
Resident, visitors and business owners all wanted more options for parking, and we delivered! With three ways to pay, it now is easier than ever to enjoy our beautiful downtown!
